Absolutely but these quantitative measurements are bit more concrete than simply qualitative descriptions.

True. But it’s hard to completely separate out the cultural effects on the philosophical basis as to how we study these quantitive measurements and why we consider them valuable.  Nothing is truly objective and will always have cultural values imposed upon them.

This sort of thing is why I’ve always preferred political philosophy over political science.  Not because it’s void of cultural basis but because it’s much more willing to take ownership of that.
