Po’pay (also spelled Popé) was the leader of the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, a successful indigenous uprising which drove the Spanish out of the settlement of Santa Fe de Nuevo Mexico in what was then the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Po’pay’s statue is on display in the United States Capitol’s National Statuary Hall.
