Not really certain what you mean? Disillusioned from Cuba because during the cold war they supported a peoples’ liberation movement?
No no, I think Cuba is a great country with excellent politics, but from talking to Cuban people, there were perhaps some grave errors of judgement. Everyone I spoke to there said socialism was good, but that doesn’t excuse everything the government does. I’m not disputing their involvement in Angola at all, I just didn’t know much about the aftercare of Cuban soldiers when they returned, which was apparently pretty bad. I know that’s true of almost any country in the world, I guess I just expected better from Cuba.
That’s fair. I think it’s hard to really comment without a benchmark to relate it to. It’s only more recently that people have come to properly accept psychology as a genuine useful practice rather than a “bunch of quacks” who just want your money. I think the real litmus test would be finding out what Cuba’s stand would be today and to see what to what degree they’ve progressed.
