Utøya, The Day Before — The Labour Youth League summer camp demanded that Norway recognize a Palestinian state during a visit by Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Thursday 21 July 2011.
The Foreign Minister shared their sentiments, declaring “The Palestinians must have their own state, the occupation must end, the wall must be demolished and it must happen now,” earning cheers from the audience.
24 hours later a far-right pro-Israel extremist posing as a policeman, Anders Behring Breivik, headed to the island of Utøya where he shot at least 85 people.
Teenagers at the lakeside camp fled screaming in panic, many leaping into the water or climbing trees to save themselves, when the attacker began spraying them with gunfire.
